Workshops

With 25 years of experience in teaching and leading workshops for a range of ages, from young children to teenagers to adults, I’m happy to facilitate writing classes on a wide range of topics.

The focus of these workshops can include but are not limited to:

  • autobiography
  • biography
  • personal essays
  • research and writing history
  • researching family history
  • writing family history
  • oral history
  • feature articles
  • travel articles
  • short stories

Workshops can range from a once off two-hour workshop to an ongoing series or writing group. My fees are usually based on Australian Society of Authors (ASA) rates.

If you’re interested in having me run a workshop for your group or organisation, please contact me for further information.

    Hi Melinda,
My name is Shelly Haseldine, I am 16years old and I wish to become a creative writer. I attend boarding school in Adelaide, at Westminster. I have begun writing a novel which is about 10pages and nowhere near completed. I was hoping that you could individually mentor me to guide and improve my writing skills? I’ve been writing ever since I can remember, but I do believe that I need a lot of help and improvement. I’m not sure if you do mentor people or not, but I really hope you’ll be able to help me.
    Kind regards,
    Shelly Haseldine

Hi Shelly, my apologies for taking so long to reply. I’ve been away and only just catching up on everything. Please send me email me at contact@melindatognini.com.au and we can chat further. I’d love to hear more about your writing!

Hi Margaret, the book by Shirley Hughes would probably be classified as young adult, so it's a fairly easy read, but it was still interesting. Another one (aimed at an adult audience but still fiction) is An Italian Affair by Caroline Montague.
